Nadia Shpachenko performs Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with UCR Orchestra, Ruth Charloff, conductor
UCR Orchestra welcomes renowned pianist Nadia Shpachenko to perform Chopin’s First Piano Concerto. With Bartok’s Hungarian Sketches, Bizet’s Jeux d’Enfants (“Children’s Games”), and Schubert’s heart-rending masterpiece, Symphony No. 8 (“Unfinished”).
Nadia Shpachenko has been described as a “truly inspiring and brilliant pianist. . . spellbinding in sensitivity and mastery of technique.” She is renowned particularly for brilliant explorations of contemporary music. Her CD “Woman at the New Piano: American Music of 2013” was nominated for Grammy awards in three categories. Concert highlights include solo recitals at Concertgebouw, Carnegie Hall, the Phillips Collection, and REDCAT@Disney Hall, as well as many appearances with orchestras in Europe and the Americas. She is Professor of Music at Cal Poly Pomona and Claremont Graduate University.
